Sorry for the lack of posts the past few weeks- it’s midterm week in my final three prerequisite classes before my Doctorate of Physical Therapy program starts in August so I have abandoned the blog to study the cranial and spinal nerves, chemistry words that I can’t even pronounce and the physics behind electricity in a circuit.
Speaking of studying, I decided to take the plunge on something I have been thinking about for the past several months. This weekend I ordered my study materials to become a certified personal trainer (CPT) through the American College of Sports Medicine!
It is in line with my future profession and a great way to make some cash while in graduate school. The certification is no joke- its a standardized test that ACSM recommends you spend 3 to 6 months studying for. I plan to take the test in the beginning of the summer so that when school starts in late August, I can focus all my energy there. I am really looking forward to studying and learning all about creating exercise plans for anyone from athletes, to people with health conditions, and people trying to get into tip top shape.
I’m so excited about where my life is heading career wise!
Ill be back with an update about marathon training (or lack thereof) after I kick ass on all my midterms this week!

Just wanted to say hi:-) Kick some booty on those exams!
Yeeeea, confirmation she IS alive! Good luck on the exams! “You CAN Do IT”!
This is awesome! You are going to rock as a CPT! And good luck with your exams – you are going to rock those too
YAY! Exciting things ahead for you
After you’re certified, you can train my butt back into shape.
Good luck on all the exams!
I bet you will be a great Personal Trainer!! Hope the exams went/are going well!
Just catching up on blogs
Yay for you, this is awesome! I’ve thought about doing the same, but definitely not before I graduate. Not sure I could handle work, school, and studying for that! Good luck!
Hugs, Lauren! Love, love, love this girl’s recent post. Can you relate? http://sweatykid.wordpress.com/2012/03/08/the-days-that-make-you-strong/ Maybe I’ll move to Denver and you can be MY personal trainer
hi lauren! i found your blog through the magic of google–i’m moving to denver this may and am trying to find cool places and people and things to do. i’m about to graduate law school and i’m hoping to find a career in public health policy–i was a personal trainer in a past life and might have to get back into it while i’m job-hunting. best of luck with your studying!
also, i saw in your earlier posts that you are a non-expert snowboarder, which is a huge relief to me. i have this perception that everyone in colorado would kick my ass on the slopes since i have only ever ridden dinky little east coast mountains. at least i might not be TOTALLY only on the intermediate runs…
OH SNAP. You are gonna rock that program girl! Congrats on picking such an amazing career. I’m in health care too and I NEVER regret it!
